The Alpha Trial

/ Eczema, Hands, Alpha

The good news is my hands have improved considerably over the past few days, no doubt due to the steroid cream. The long term use of this is starting to worry me, it cannot be good and it makes the skin on the back of my hands so thin it tears easily, not particularly appealing.

I have discovered that the NHS in the UK are carrying out a clinical trial comparing Alitretinoin and PUVA therapy. The 'Alpha Trial' as it is called, is a study of Hand Eczema patients who have not had succesful results when using topical steroids. This is being run nationally and as of the date of this article patients are still being accepted at a range of locations which can be found on the University of Leeds website.
